In 1998, I left the accounting profession to pursue my dream of running my own business. In partnership, I started a city-based recruitment agency Caden Consulting. As a Director of a start-up company I was exposed to every aspect of business. I quickly built a reputation as an industry specialist in permanent and contract personnel. My focus at Caden was to introduce best-practice systems & processes throughout the company while maintaining the highest level of personal customer service. This was done through extensive research and further study. This approach led to winning the Seek Australia Recruitment Agency of the Year in 2003 as well as being featured in Business Review Weekly (BRW Magazine). Throughout this time I also wrote published articles and spoke in the media.
Prior to running my own business, I spent ten years in the accounting profession as a business advisor. My accounting career culminated in my appointment as Business Services Manager with leading accounting firm Pitcher Partners. My experience here was built on working with many small to medium businesses in a diverse range of industries. Areas of expertise included management accounting, financial accounting, personal & corporate taxation, budgeting & cashflow analysis and superannuation. I also worked on many specialist management consulting assignments including preparation of business plans, business valuations, fraud investigations, bank investigations, Australian Tax Office audits, due diligence reviews, property development and many other appointments. I also developed strong management skills in managing my own team which included client service, supervision, professional development, mentoring and recruitment. I gained extensive further education through the firm’s ongoing professional & personal development programs. I was a key participant and trainer in the firm’s internal training & development programs.
I entered the accounting profession in 1988 with leading international accounting firm Deloitte where I gained immediate exposure to large publicly listed companies. This was a fantastic introduction to the corporate world where my early business skills were honed working on-site at clients’ premises with the management of successful large business.
My senior education commenced with completion of the Higher School Certificate where I was awarded Dux of Commerce. I successfully gained entry into the prestigious University of Melbourne where I completed a Bachelor of Commerce. After graduating, I completed post-graduate studies while working full-time attaining the premier accounting qualification of Chartered Accountant.
On a personal level, I am happily married to my wife Jan and have two beautiful children Jack & Tayla. I have completed private studies in marketing, building turn-key businesses, copy writing, property investment, share trading, philosophy and creative writing. I am a movie buff, love my sport (doing and watching!) and enjoy reading about six books at a time. Wine appreciation, a true love for music and great friends all contribute to a balanced lifestyle.

Not all business consultants have a strong business education. I have a Commerce Degree from Melbourne University and a post-graduate qualification as a Chartered Accountant.

service agreements. I understand that most
business owners feel uncomfortable about being locked
in to 12 month minimum service agreements. I commit
to delivering a significant return on your investment
with me. If you don't believe you are getting a return
on your financial commitment, you can simply terminate
our agreement in any given month.
Fixed fees provide peace-of-mind. I understand
you want to know in advance how much your consulting
services are going to cost you. That's why we agree
on a fixed monthly fee so there are no nasty surprises
in the mail. This also helps you manage your budgets
and cashflow.
